Before you arrive

Contact Information
If you need anything before your arrival, please get in touch:

  • Max – +44 7932 691 951 (WhatsApp preferred) | Email: maxxbayfield@gmail.com

  • Carmel – +353 (86) 883 5313

  • Emergency services: 112 or 999

  • Nearest hospital: University College Hospital, Newcastle Rd, Galway – +353 91 524 222

  • Nearest chemist: Kinvara (next to the supermarket)

Check-in Check-out

  • Check-in: From 6:00 pm to allow the housekeeper time to prepare the house. You’re welcome to park at the house a couple of hours earlier — just try not to disturb Carmel while she cleans. If you arrive early, a walk down to Flaggy Shore or a late lunch at Linnane’s is a perfect way to start your stay.

Check-out: By 10:00 am. Please leave the house tidy and clean. Out of peak season, these times can be flexible by prior agreement if there’s no one arriving the same day.

Arrival and Access

On arrival, you’ll see “Bayfield House” engraved on a stone at the top of the driveway.

  • Please park in the courtyard beside the house.

  • Use the green door (into the conservatory) — the yellow front door is not used.

  • The key safe is on the wall to the right of the green door (facing the yellow garage door).

  • Max will provide the code a few weeks before your stay — or just ask if you haven’t received it.

Tip: It’s best to keep the key either in the key safe or in the lock on the inside of the door, so it doesn’t go missing!

What’s Provided

  • Bed linen and towels (if you prefer large bath or beach towels, please bring your own)

  • Hand soap, dishwasher tabs, and toilet roll (enough for the first couple of days)

  • Hairdryers and an iron

  • Fully equipped kitchen with cafetières (plunger-style), oven, hob, microwave, air fryer, George Foreman grill, and dishwashe

  • Wi-Fi network: MaxxBayfield | Password: GalwayBay (router on the studio windowsill if you need to reboot)

  • Music system: Bluetooth model CMT-SBT20 (select BT-AUDIO and hold Function to pair)

What to bring

  • House slippers or thick socks (the tiled floors can be cool, even in summer)

  • Beach towels, shampoo, and personal toiletries

  • HDMI cable or Fire Stick if you’d like to stream to the TV (it’s a large screen but not a Smart TV)

  • Laundry detergent if you plan to use the washing machine or dryer (please don’t leave the dryer running unattended)

  • Weather-appropriate clothing — and always pack a raincoat (this is Ireland, after all!)

House tips

  • Heating: Press the “Boost” button (number 1) in the kitchen for both heat and hot water — please use sparingly. Keep doors closed to retain warmth. If it’s too warm, turn down the radiators rather than opening windows.

  • Water pressure: It’s a rural supply, so pressure may drop if multiple showers are running at once, especially upstairs.

  • TV: Large screen (non-smart). Use HDMI or your own device for movies.

  • BBQ: Wood and coal BBQ in the back garden — fuel available at local supermarkets or petrol stations.

  • Safety: If walking to Linnane’s or anywhere after dark, wear something reflective or use your phone light so cars can see you.

  • Local dining: Linnane’s Bar gets busy — book your table online before you arrive at linnanesbar.com.

For Families and Babies

  • We love welcoming families to Bayfield!

  • Travel cots (please bring your own cot sheets) and a high chair are available on request.

  • The Aughinish Room (ground floor) is ideal for parents with young children — you can use a baby monitor from the sitting room and peek through the window to check on sleeping kids.

  • Bayfield is a family home but not child-proofed, so please take normal precautions with toddlers, especially around stairs and the garden.

  • We kindly ask that food stays within the kitchen and dining areas.

Waste and Recycling

  • New Quay has strict recycling — thank you for helping us keep it that way!

  • Blue bin: Cans, plastics, and paper (please crush bottles and cans to save space)

  • Glass: Drop off at the Kinvara Bring Centre (Green Road, on the left as you enter Kinvara)

  • Fire ash: Dispose of outside in the garden, against the wall.

Before you leave

Please:

  • Turn off the cooker, close and lock all doors and windows, and ensure the fire is out.

  • Leave the house tidy and as you found it.

  • Note any breakages and, if possible, leave a small contribution for replacements in an envelope through the garage letterbox — thank you!

  • Return the key to the key safe.

Thank you again for staying at Bayfield House!

We hope you enjoy your time here — breathe in the sea air, explore the Burren, and make yourself at home.
